Well, this game won quite a few prizes as a board game and the iPad version is a perfect adaptation of a really good game! :)

- The presentation of the rules within the App is bad. Yellow text on light brown background makes a bad contrast. There is only text, no explaining, helpful picture. The rules are presented in single pages and I have to click "next page" button again and again. Id rather have the complete rules on only one page where I can scroll because that would make it easier to find certain info I am looking for. For instance, I wanted to find out how the start player switches from round to round - I had to click through all the pages and still couldnt find this info. - I miss the implementation of the expert rule in the game. I mean the rule where there is an auction for the tiles. I always play the boardgame with this rule because then there is less luck in the game + Tikal is one of my favorite board games and I am happy to see an ipad implementation of it
It is a pleasure to play this game on the ipad. very good design, high replayability. The AI can be a bit weak but I played just twice up to now when the automatic message to rank the game appears.
Dont buy this for your ipad pro, it was not optimized for it. Texts are often out of bounds etc. also the tutorial is bad for people who dont know the actual boardgame
Why the game screen cannot be upside down? Playing it while having ipad keyboard is quite annoying.... Otherwise, good implementation tho... plz update it :(
Cant get past the game setup screen. Cant download the app again. Doesnt appear to be any online support on the company website. Too bad, since I love this game and was lookin forward to Puerto Rico later this year. Should have spent my 5 bucks on a Carmel Macchiato... O.k. Thanks to the forums on board game geek! You must apply Ann A.I. Persona to human players in the setup screen to get this to work.
Like Ra a Euro board game I didnt own a hard copy of but wanted to try and its great. I was able to learn the game quickly and it would seem to be another excellent IPad version of a Spiel des Jahr. The only issue is that in 4 games I havent lost - from game one against the lowest AI to my 4th game against the highest AI playing a variety of 2 - 4 player games. For now Ill have to depend on the available online multiplayer or local hotseat for challenge. But thanks to Codito for bringing these great Euro boardgames to this media. So far so good :-)
The Gameplay is perfect, but sometime when you do undo, it freeze and quit the app for no reason. Fix this and its 5/5. ;)
I love the board game, this is a good rendition. To fix to earn 5 stars: a) very difficult to highlight an explorer truck, finicky, thinks I want to insert a camp etc. Sensitivity & precision there have bugs. b) messages should have the option to turn off (pop ups about being out of points are annoying after a few rounds). c) should have an option to not confirm every action. With the Undo feature (thanks for that) its a time-wasting unnecessary feature if buttons can be pressed with confidence in their precision. Thanks, cant wait for the next game!
Fantastic port to iPad. Highly recommended.
Why all of their games got horrible non-polished ui? Even the button, checkbox icons look cheap. The developer of this company should see games like samurai, carcassone, bang, they are defining how boardgame on iPhone should like, on the other hand this publisher is grabbing all the good title but creating bad implementation of them.
First let me say that this is a fantastic rendering of Tikal in iPad form. However the game clearly was released without sufficient testing. As other reviews have mentioned, the Undo function causes the game to crash most of the time its used. After crashing, the game takes several minutes to start again (so long that the first time it happened I wasnt sure if it would ever start again). This wouldnt be a showstopper issue if the Undo function was rarely used. However because the interface is so finicky, its very easy to accidentally take unintended actions, especially while trying to zoom and pan the board. Thus the need to frequently use Undo. I think the designers were aware of how finicky the interface is because by default all actions are confirmed (I.e. Do you really want to take this action?) Such confirmation would not be necessary if the interface was well implemented (see Carcassonne for comparison). If the devs fix these two issues it would be a 5-star app.
This is a pretty good implementation of the board game, but even with the latest update, there are still times when I cant tell which of my workers are selected because they arent flashing. Getting better with each update though.
The app has its issues but most can be overlooked by virtue of the quality of the board game it is emulating.
Played our first game this evening. Workers randomly disappeared/appeared. Twice could not see the worker that was to be moved, and therefore could not unselect him to do something else. Game ultimately crashed. Version 1.1 installed. Bugs made game not worth the time or money.
Beautifully done. Mirror of the boardgame. Plays great on iPhone/iPad2, best on iPad2.
Great game replication. My only complaint is there should be an option to skip animations because sometimes the animations are quite slow...
Sometimes seems to freeze or I am not sure what to press but overall a good game! Also sometimes have to exit ang go back in for next multiplayer turm to show up?
Good game but picking up workers can sometimes be frustrating - it can take many touches before the UI selects the worker. Other than that fault, the game is great.
Great, but sever cant find other players.
